One rotten apple...Taxi-Drivers

Cab-drivers in Puerto Vallarta are generally reliable and for the most part very charming as well as courteous. Recently however, there has been an increasing number of reports that some cab-drivers are discouraging folks from taking them to certain destinations, especially Restaurants, while suggesting others. Some try to convince you, the place you wish to be taken to is no longer open for business.

This is largely due to commissions paid to the drivers for “hijacking” customers and persuade them to go to a different establishment.

The result being, you the customer, will be overcharged to absorb the commission paid to the taxi driver. In the battle for your business, some establishments are offering “rewards” as high as 100 Pesos (approx.9 USD) to the drivers, obviously at your expense.
