Second tunnel planned for Puerto Vallarta Inner City Highway

The rumors are true. Vallarta is living a wave of good news with major improvements to the city’s infrastructure as evidenced by the recent closing of the malecón to widen the boardwalk and as yet unconfirmed bike lane – the first in Vallarta.

In recent weeks there has been much activity along what is known as the big tunnel on the highway of Luis Donaldo Colosio that connects the north the Olas Altas community to the hotel zone via the highway or Libramiento on the east side of the city.

Salvador González Resendiz, the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, continues meets regularly with the engineers leading this important investment in the city’s infrastructure.

Omega Construcciones Industrial, S.A. de C.V.’s head engineer Cesar Pineda Ocampo, visited the Mayor’s office to finalize details of the project which is expected to be completed over the next 18 months. He was accompanied by colleagues Mr. Ángel Martínez and Lic. Alfonso Villa Gomez.

The city was proud to confirm that this time around, the engineering company will not be using dynamite in the excavations, but rather employing a massive drill along with 520 steel frameworks, in a meticulous plan to ensure the public’s safety.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months at the cost of an estimated 130 million pesos.
