The Loft Galeria – Looking Forward

May is one of Puerto Vallarta’s best-kept secrets! Conventional wisdom holds that “The Season” ends with Easter. However those in the know recognize the many reasons to come to Vallarta in May and to partake of the unique offerings that have sprung up during that month over the last several years. Great doings in the center of town: public festivals abound, Restaurant Week and importantly, the Art Season continues. The Artwalk runs through end of May and most galleries continue regular hours or are open by appointment.

The Loft Galeria is a Fine Art Gallery possessing a reservoir of quality art. The Loft has exhibited a broad variety of artwork, in its first five years, from classics dating to the 16th Century, to cutting edge contemporary. We constantly struggle with the ongoing questions of art as a reflection of culture and society and art as vanguard. Forms of art in general are often driven by their ability to adequately represent conditions and thought, and have certainly led to rejections of traditional forms in many cases. Art challenges us as it soothes. But, significantly Art has a distinct ability to look forward. It is often through art that we have found light to lead us.

In this spirit, The Loft Galeria looks forward. We look forward to a vibrant 2011 – 2012 Art Season.

Also, we at The Loft are pleased to continue our tradition of substantial end of season values. Old friends and new collectors may continue to expect significant well-positioned works by many of their favorite artists. For those interested in adding to their collections or for those who seek to begin what will become a lifelong enjoyment of acquiring artwork that soothes, challenges and very often increases in financial worth.

The Loft Galeria continues its parade of art by artists currently exhibiting on and international basis. Many, if not most have permanent museum placement and many have significant auction records: Artists such as Carlos Cortes, Carlos Vargas Pons, Reynaldo Diaz Zesati, Davis Birks and Guanajuato’s Dean Gazely. Mario Cinquemani, Michael Costantini and Helmut Bourneman. The wonderful Ethiopian artist Wosene Worke Kosrof. Acclaimed collage artist Maxie Perez Sutton and the deeply published surrealist Loren Salazar. Of course we must include the award winning watercolors of Meg Munro as well as important paintings by the Great Master Draftsman Harry Carmean and the whimsical works of Paul Huber. The new paintings of Nicola Wheston show her appetite for the light and flora of the tropics. The Loft now also features select works of Bill White, arguably Puerto Vallarta’s finest realist and a wonderful selection of paintings and drawings by Susan Seaberry. Included as well is a marvelous set of photo paintings from the Barbie series by Claudia Delgado Porter. The list goes on.

The Loft Galeria also proudly maintains a selection of works by Latin American masters such as Wifredo Lam, Rodolfo Morales, Jose Luis Cuevas, Javier Arevalo and early drawings by Gunther Gerzo.

Visit The Loft Galeria at 176A Corona, just steps up from the Malecon in the Central Historic District of Puerto Vallarta and enjoy the variety of strong works of power and beauty that have become its signature.
Private gallery tours and events can be arranged and are welcome.
